2019 game theme announced – registration open!

FIRST has offically announced what we’ve all been waiting for! The global theme for the 2019-20 season is drumroll

FIRST RISE powered by Star Wars: Force for Change

But what does that mean? We hear you mumble. Well, FIRST Inspires explains, “throughout history, great civilizations have risen, then fallen. Now it’s our turn to rise — building and bolstering our own planetary metropolis.

This 2019-2020 season, FIRST RISE, powered by Star Wars: Force for Change, is setting out to inspire citizens of the galaxy to work together, strengthening and protecting the Force that binds us and creating a place where collaboration and collective wisdom can elevate new ideas and foster growth.”

The force is with us, folks. Disney’s philanthropic initiative Star Wars: Force for Change is proudly supercharging this year’s season as part of a $1.5 million partnership to provide education and outreach to the underserved communities FIRST operates in.

Which brings us on to the new challenge this season…

FIRST RISE unites all FIRST programmes including the newly revealed FIRST Tech Challenge game, Skystone, presented by Qualcomm, which is challenging teams to reach new heights and build a better world. Star Wars knows a thing or two about robots and this autumn teams will create their own to compete on the playing field.

Want to rise to the challenge this season? Register a team to take part.

That’s all for now, our official game reveal in September will answer your galactic questions. If, like us, you can’t wait that long, play this video on repeat, and as Yoda would say “be, imagine what will”…

Sabre your excitement, share on social, tell your teammates, and inform every Star Wars fan you know that the 2019-20 game field is going to be EPIC.

Together, we RISE.
